Performance Attire

The Mira Costa Choirs Performance Attire includes:

Choir T-Shirt - Forest green t-shirt with white silk-screened logo. Used for community events and informal performances such as caroling in downtown Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach, caroling at the Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks, the Manhattan Village Tree Lighting Celebration, and more. Orders are placed once a year at the beginning of the year via Custom Ink Group Ordering. A small inventory is kept on hand and available for purchase ($12 each).

Choir Tour T-Shirt - Black t-shirt with four color embroidered logo. Used for tour performances and certain community events such as performing at the Neptunian Women’s Club, and the Manhattan Beach Pier Lighting.

Concert Attire - Students may select from three options: traditional tuxedo, button-down dress shirt with trousers, or concert gowns. Attire measuring and ordering takes place at the beginning of the school year. The most recent information about pricing and ordering details are shared with families at that time. A small inventory of all performance attire is kept on hand for students who join after attire orders are taken, or who need to exchange for a different size during the school year.

Tuxedos are ordered through Friar Tux “school uniforms” division. Students who select this option will receive detailed ordering and measuring instructions. Prices may vary and a la carte ordering is available, but a full tuxedo with shoes is approximately $185. A green pocket square is provided to each student for use during concerts.

The button-down dress shirt and tuxedo trousers are ordered by the Boosters at the start of each year based on demand. The dress shirt costs $30, and the pants are $40. Students may wear any matte black dress shoe with this option (no casual or canvas shoes).

Concert gowns are made-to-order based on each student’s measurements. The gown costs $105. This attire option can be paired with either heeled or flat matte black shoes. Heeled shoes, called Character Shoes, are available on Amazon or locally at Expressly Motion. Character shoes should have a 1.5” heel, and may be any brand (such as Capezio, Danshuz, Balera, etc). Gowns are paired with a simple drop-pearl necklace (provided to each student for use during concerts).

The boosters keep a lending inventory of all attire on hand. Families may purchase or borrow their attire. Those who wish to borrow are asked to complete the Attire Borrowing Agreement.

Volunteer

Choir has two major fundraisers each year: the MB 10K Race in the fall, and the Mattress Sale in the spring. Both of these fundraisers are mandatory for all choir students and at least one parent or guardian.

Communication

The Boosters stay connected with parents through weekly eblasts, their Facebook group, and GroupMe.

Newsletters contain reminders and information for the Choir events happening in the coming week. This is the best source for current information about classroom activities and choir events. Parents of current choir students are welcome to join our GroupMe to receive helpful reminders or information about last-minute event changes/updates. Search for "MCHS Choir Parents" in your GroupMe app and ask to join.
